Mount Union’s men’s soccer team suffered a 3-1 loss to Ohio Northern in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup Saturday.
The Purple Raiders move to 6-6, 0-3 in the OAC, on the year while the Polar Bears advance to 8-5-1, 1-1-1 in the OAC.
A foul in the box would lead to the first penalty kick of the game giving Ohio Northern the 1-0 lead at the 27:35 mark.
Mount Union would answer nine minutes later on another penalty kick when senior Jack Weber placed a ball in the upper 90 tying the game at 1-1 heading into halftime.
To start the second half, the Polar Bears advanced the score to 2-1 after a scramble in the box led to a goal. The Polar Bears again scored at the 61:57 mark giving them the 3-1 lead and eventual final score with the Polar Bears outshooting Mount Union 21-7
Mount Union remains home to take on Baldwin Wallace in OAC play Tuesday, Oct. 14 at 7 pm at Mount Union Stadium in Alliance.
