Men’s College Soccer: Mount Union Defeats St. Vincent 4-1

Mount Union’s men’s soccer team defeated St. Vincent 4-1 Wednesday in Latrobe, Pa.  The win evens Mount Union’s record at 2-2 overall while St. Vincent falls to 2-4 on the season.

Senior Colin Combs gave the Purple Raiders (2-2) an early 1-0 lead as he scored at the 14:09 mark. Senior Jack Weber extended the Mount Union lead with an unassisted goal in the 38th minute and the Raiders took a 2-0 lead into halftime.

To start the second half, freshman Carter Dunn scored an unassisted goal to extend the Purple Raiders lead to 3-0 at the 57:12 mark. A penalty kick from Combs in the 63rd minute would put the Raiders up 4-0 over the Bearcats.

Zachary Lakenan scored for St. Vincent at the 83:37 mark making the final score 4-1.

Sophomore Dylan, Lias got the start in goal for the Raiders, faced two shots and made one save. Mount Union outshot St. Vincent 30-12.

The Raiders return home to face Bluffton next Wednesday, Sept. 17 at 7 pm at Mount Union Stadium.
