The Mount Union men’s soccer team was defeated by Oberlin 2-0 Saturday night at Oberlin.
The first half began with Oberlin’s (5-1) Gideon Tamir receiving a yellow card in the 6th minute of the game. Oberlin recorded 9 shots in the first half, all of which were saved by senior Dylan Lias (Cuyahoga Falls/Cuyahoga Falls).
Five Purple Raiders (1-3-2) recorded shots in the first half, but the team was unable to tally a point. The game went into halftime tied at zero.
Oberlin wasted no time getting on the board in the second half; Timothy Williams and Jonah Blume-Kemkes scored in the 48th and 61st minutes, respectively.
The Raiders had two shots in the second half, taken by sophomore Ian Moorhead (Apollo, Pa./Kiski Area) and freshman Daniel Chung (Stow/CVCA), but neither found the back of the net.
The Purple Raiders next play Allegheny (Pa.) on Sunday, Sept. 25 at 3 p.m. in Meadville, Pa.
