The Miami Fusion FC are the 2015 Sunshine Conference champions after Friday night’s game at Jacksonville. The final result ended in a 1-1 draw, but the one point earned was enough to clinch the conference title with one game left in the season. The Fusion FC (7-1-1) have also earned a spot in the South Region playoffs.

In Miami Fusion FC’s inaugural season, they faced tough opponents throughout Florida. The season started off with a loss to inner-city rival Miami United, but the Fusion never looked back, winning seven straight games. The streak came to an end with the 1-1 draw against Jacksonville on Friday night.

Between the first game of the season and the most recent draw, the Fusion FC had an exciting path to the postseason. First was giving Kraze United their first loss of the season after a close battle in Orlando. Kraze United traveled to Miami for the second matchup of the season and returned home to Orlando with a 5-1 defeat at the hands of the Fusion. Another key matchup was the second meeting with Miami United. It was a very emotional and passionate match that ended in a 3-2 Fusion win with the game-winning goal scored in the 85th minute.

After a seven-game win streak, the goal of winning the conference has been accomplished. The season started with the idea of improving the quality of soccer in Miami, and bringing the sport we all love to the top. The club is looking forward to the challenges forthcoming and hopes to continue this journey against the best teams in the NPSL. With one game left in the season, Miami Fusion FC are looking to keep good form heading to the postseason.
