MU Men Roll Past Capital

Editor October 19, 2013

Three different players scored as Mount Union’s men’s soccer team posted a 3-1 victory over Capital Saturday in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup at Mount Union Stadium.

Mount Union improved to 8-7 overall and 3-2 in the OAC, while Capital fell to 5-6-3 overall and 2-3 in the OAC.

Senior Thomas Beck would put the Raiders on the board first in the ninth minute, notching his 10th goal of the season. His goal would be followed by freshman Jacob Sutton in the 26th minute and the Raiders would hold the 2-0 lead for the remainder of the first half.

Capital would come within one as Austin Dent would put the Crusaders on the board in the 60th.

It would be Kevin Blackley that would make it the final 3-1 as he received a pass from Jack Weber in the 69th minute.

This victory marks the first victory over Capital in a decade for the men’s soccer team, who last defeated Capital 6-3 in 2003 in Alliance.

The Raiders remain at home when they host Muskingum on Wednesday, October 23 at 4 pm at Mount Union Stadium in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup.
