Editor October 12, 2013

Carolyn Balzano’s solo goal led the Purple Raiders to a 1-0 victory in an Ohio Athletic Conference match-up against Wilmington on Saturday night.

The Raiders improve to 10-2-1 and 3-0-0 overall in the OAC, while the Quakers fall to 8-4-1 and 2-1-0 in OAC action.

Mount Union was only able to generate two shots overall, with Balzano netting the ball off a pass from sophomore Shannon Evans in the 36th minute.

Junior goalkeeper Maria Favorite had seven saves on the night, after facing 17 shots from the Quakers, earning her, and the Raiders defense their eighth shutout on the season.

The Purple Raiders travel to University Heights, when they face-off against John Carroll at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16.
