Editor October 30, 2013

Mount Union’s women’s soccer team set a new school record for wins in a season with a 1-0 shutout of Baldwin Wallace in an Ohio Athletic Conference match Wednesday in Berea.

Kelsey Malenic’s goal led the Purple Raiders (12-5-1, 5-3 OAC) to the victory.

Baldwin Wallace falls to 13-5 overall and 4-4 in the conference.

After a scoreless first half, Malenic collected a rebound off a shot from sophomore Shannon Evans in the 76th minute.

Junior keeper Maria Favorite  earned her 10th shutout, tying the record set in 1996 by Kara Callahan.

Mount Union concludes regular season play Saturday, Nov. 2 at 3:30 pm against Heidelberg at Mount Union Stadium. Prior to the start of the game, the team will honor its seniors.
