The National Premier Soccer League (NPSL), the only league designated by USASA as a Tier 1 national league, is proud to announce that New Jersey United Athletic Club has joined the league as an expansion team. The club will begin play in 2024.
“We are pleased to have New Jersey United Athletic Club join the NPSL,” NPSL Director of Membership Development Dina Case said. “This ownership group is eager to expand their business portfolio and felt that the NPSL was the best fit for them to accomplish this. We are looking forward to them having much success both on and off the field.”
The club will be led by owner Faton Bauta.
Bauta is a former Division I quarterback that played at the University of Georgia and Colorado State University. He earned his bachelor’s degree in sport management at UGA and a master’s degree in education from Colorado State. He went on to coach football at Monmouth University, Colorado State University, and the University of South Carolina.
He later became involved in New York City real estate in addition to creating The Approach Sports, a sports consulting company.
Home matches for the 2024 season will be played at Roggy Field in Holmdel, NJ.
“New Jersey United brings a team-first approach that recognizes the importance of promoting all things soccer and the NPSL,” Bauta added. “We will bring a competitive organization and a team that exudes confidence and courage and plays soccer at an exceptional level because of two reasons: the love and respect we have for the game and the love and respect we have for the people of New Jersey.”
