Saturday had four great matches for fans and supporters to enjoy in the NPSL West.
Striker Tyler Coombes, the leading scorer for the Santa Clarita Storm in 2012 with 15 goals, scored the game-winner in Saturday’s 4-3 victory over Las Vegas Stallions FC.
FC Hasental squeaked past San Diego Boca FC by a 5-4 margin, while CD Aguiluchos USA shutout the San Francisco Stompers 4-0 with a hat trick from striker Jorge Ruiz.
Real San Jose had to settle for a 2-2 draw with the Sonoma County Sol.
Sunday featured just one match between two of the best in the West.
Orange County Pateadores defeated the San Diego Flash 2-0 thanks to goals from Chen Yong Park and Irving Garcia.
“We wanted do see our level against the Flash, a team known for quality players,” said Orange County head coach Salvador Moran. “They are going through a transition after losing some good players and I am sure that they will still be a highly competitive team as time goes on.”
Orange County got a brilliant night from keeper Jose Miranda, who got the clean sheet thanks to incredible saves that kept the Flash off the scoreboard. Miranda is best known for his time with the Cuban National Team, Hollywood United, and the LA Blues.
