The National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) is proud to announce that Queens Park Rangers FC technical director Chris Ramsey will be a guest speaker at the 2017 NPSL Player Showcase. The event will take place on January 7-9, 2017 at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.
“We are so excited to have Chris Ramsey as part of the NPSL Showcase,” Showcase Committee Chairman Kenny Farrell remarked. “He brings incredible experience at the highest levels of the game and I know that our players will benefit greatly from his involvement.”
Ramsey served as manager of QPR in 2015 before becoming technical director in January 2016. Currently he oversees all aspects of coaching and coach education within the club’s academy, and is responsible for developing and implementing player development strategies. He also oversees the integration between the academy, development squad, and first team, as well as focusing on the monitoring and reporting of players on loan to other clubs.
“I’m honored to be invited to the NPSL Showcase,” Ramsey added. “It is always good to see young players achieve their ambitions.”
Ramsey is also known for his work at Tottenham Hotspur, where he was influential in developing an outstanding academy as Head of Player Development. He was eventually appointed as a first team coach where he assisted both Tim Sherwood and Les Ferdinand.
He has also served as the head coach of the England U-20 national team in addition to managing the USL’s Charleston Battery (USL) from 2001-2004.
Ramsey is widely regarded as one of the game’s top minds in player development, having launched the professional careers of dozens of world-class players.
