Regals SCA are the newest members of the NPSL, joining the league for the 2013 season. The Regals have a rich history in the Houston area, thanks to their numerous local league titles and cup victories. The NPSL’s newest expansion team will be joining a very competitive South Region, one of the strongest areas in the entire league.
“I am looking forward to playing in the NPSL,” General Manager Miguel Landaverde stated. “The players were excited when I told them the news. We are always looking for a new challenge.”
The team will play home matches at Maya Park with plans for a new facility to be built in time for the 2015 season.
The Regals are known for an excellent academy program that has produced many quality young players, players that will now have the opportunity to play at a much higher level.
Landaverde is joined on the Regals’ leadership team by owner Hortencia Olivo and head coach Tirso Rios Sierra.
The Regals hope to be competitive immediately and be contenders for the conference title in their first season. It is expected that a rivalry between Regals SCA and the Houston Hurricanes will develop as two of the top teams in Houston battle it out for bragging rights.
The club expects to fill their NPSL squad with players from local leagues.
