Shreveport Rafters FC Joins the NPSL

Editor October 15, 2015

The National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) is proud to announce that Shreveport Rafters FC (Shreveport, LA) has joined the league as an expansion team. The club will compete in the South Region’s South Central Conference.

“We are thrilled to have another team in Louisiana,” NPSL Chairman Joe Barone commented. “It’s exciting to see the South Region continue to grow with Shreveport Rafters FC. It is a great development for our fans and supporters.”

Shreveport Rafters FC is a startup team birthed from the desire by Shreveport-based innovators to bring quality and competitive match play to Northwest Louisiana. Their philosophy is to develop talented players in their area to compete at the highest level of the sport of soccer. Their style of play will be directly influenced by the U.S. Men’s National Team. They have a track record of successful promotions in their area and a great love and affinity for their hometown.

The club is led by co-owners Will and Jim Broyles. Will has a background in various private equity businesses, including sports and entertainment promotions, documentary film making and television production. Jim has a financial background in banking and private equity management.

Home matches will be held at Lee Hedges Stadium, a mid-century facility that has hosted numerous sporting events in the area. It boasts an excellent location in the heart of Shreveport.

“The Rafters expect to create a family-friendly soccer experience for all types of fans with a competitive team, engrained in furthering the game of soccer in our cities,” Will Broyles added. “We have a wealth of knowledge in sporting event promotions and a love of the game. Our gameday experience for fans will be unparalleled in the league.”
