The National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) is proud to announce that Sioux Falls Thunder FC (Sioux Falls, SD) has returned to the league with new ownership.
The club will now be led by Daniel Haggerty, who will serve as both owner and general manager. Haggerty, who resides in Freeman, SD, has coached high school soccer for 19 years, 11 in South Dakota and eight in Ohio. He played four years and earned NAIA All-American Honorable Mention honors at Goshen College (Goshen, IN).
“We are excited to be part of the North Conference as it and the NPSL continue to grow,” Haggerty said. “We feel the member-run, family-friendly organization fits well with our philosophy and vision and the Sioux Falls community. The Thunder brings a renewed excitement and commitment to the Sioux Falls region.”
Home matches will be played at O’Gorman High School’s McEneaney Field.
Ryan Beier will lead the Thunder’s coaching staff as head coach. Beier has coached at O’Gorman High School for the past 20 years, compiling six state championships and a career varsity record of 179-52-39. He was a finalist for NHSACA National Coach of the Year in 2017. He also has coaching experience at the Dakota Alliance Soccer Club and University of Sioux Falls. He currently teaches health and physical education at O’Gorman Junior High.
“Coach Beier will be instrumental in helping the team draw from local talent in the region,” Haggerty added. “He will be a great fit with the team philosophy of developing that talent as well as young coaches. This should provide a family-friendly environment for some exciting soccer in a great centrally located facility.”
