New York Athletic Club forward George Stannard has been named the 15th Mitre National Player of the Week for the 2015 NPSL season.
Stannard, a standout at the University of Mobile, scored the game-winner in New York Athletic Club’s 3-2 victory over the Brooklyn Italians, bringing his goal total to seven goals in seven games. He also tallied four assists during this period.
“George’s work rate and attitude are absolutely tremendous,” New York Ahtletic Club manager Andrew Cullen commented. “He is always a willing runner off the ball. And when we lose the ball he is the first to defend, putting immediate pressure on the ball. He gives us 100% effort from the whistle through the 90th minute. George is a player who enjoys the game. He is always smiling, and that is infectious within the team. And he is a player who knows how to score goals.”
The Kent, England native scored four goals for Mobile in 2014, playing in 21 games and starting 14.
