Mount Union’s men’s soccer team suffered a 3-0 loss to Waynesburg (Pa.) Saturday, Sept. 20 at Mount Union Stadium. The loss drops the Purple Raiders to 3-3 on the season while Waynesburg advances to 3-3-2. A goal by Chad Palucka at the 18:32 mark gave Waynesburg the 1-0 lead heading into halftime. An early goal to start the half by Victor Browne gave Waynesburg a 2-0 advantage. Colin Nelson followed with a goal at the 22:57 mark making the final score 3-0. Mount Union
Mount Union’s men’s soccer team defeated Bluffton 3-0 Wednesday in their home opener of the 2014 season. The win advances Mount Union to 3-2 overall while Bluffton falls to 1-5. Freshman Trever Wendel scored at the 16:12 mark off a through ball from freshman Carter Dunn making the score 1-0 leading into halftime. Heading into halftime Mount Union extended the lead 2-0 after a Bluffton foul led to a cross by senior Jack Weber which was headed into the net by sophomore Kevin Blackley. Two goals from sophmore striker Joey Merlo helped the Mount Union Men’s Soccer team deliver a 3-0 win over Marietta. Marietta was no match for Mount Union as the Purple Raiders rolled to a 3-0 victory. Mount dominated the game with quick offensive strikes and solid defensive play. The first goal of the match came in the 20th minute as Kevin Cindric set up Merlo with a pass in the box. Marietta keeper Chris Stollar couldn’t keep this one out despite ending
