A game winning goal in the second overtime by Trever Wendel gave Mount Union the 3-2 victory over Allegheny (Pa.) Tuesday, Sept. 23 at Mount Union Stadium. The victory advances the Purple Raiders to 4-3 on the season while Allegheny (Pa.) drops to 4-4-1 on the season. Mount Union’s men’s soccer team defeated Bluffton 3-0 Wednesday in their home opener of the 2014 season. The win advances Mount Union to 3-2 overall while Bluffton falls to 1-5. Freshman Trever Wendel scored at the 16:12 mark off a through ball from freshman Carter Dunn making the score 1-0 leading into halftime. Heading into halftime Mount Union extended the lead 2-0 after a Bluffton foul led to a cross by senior Jack Weber which was headed into the net by sophomore Kevin Blackley.
