San Diego Boca FC today announced that the club has re-signed its 2012 captain and defender Brent Zuniga to a new one-year contract for the upcoming 2013 NPSL season. Zuniga is a graduate of California State San Marcos.
“We are very excited to re-sign Brent Zuniga to a one-year contract as Brent is a very solid defender who always leaves it on the field,” CEO/President Yan Skwara commented. “Brent anchored our defense throughout the 2012 season and never missed a game and was named team captain for his leadership and defensive skills. Signing Zuniga is great news for our club and our fans.”
“I am excited to be back playing for Boca for the second straight season as I have a good feeling on the direction of the club both on and off the field,” Zuniga added. “I want to be part of a winner and this club and its management team are definitely focused and committed to winning. I look forward to the start of training camp and seeing all the guys back on the field. This will be a big year for Boca if I can help it.”
“When I heard that Brent had signed, I was very happy as Brent is a true professional and is a true leader of men,” Head Coach Dr. Karim Ben Mazouk suggested. “I had the privileged of coaching Brent when he was a youth player and I know that he comes from a quality family. I think with some of the other defenders we have coming into the picture opposing offenses are going to have a difficult time scoring.”
