Three Points for Stockade FC

Matthew Miller June 26, 2016

It was a busy weekend for Kingston Stockade FC at home as they had both a dominant 6-1 win over Seacoast United Phantoms on Saturday and a hard-fought 2-1 loss at the hands of the Brooklyn Italians on Sunday.

Saturday’s win ended a rough patch for Kingston, a stretch of six straight matches without a win.  Stockade FC opened the scoring in the 16th minute with a strike from forward Corey Phillips.

Vincent Gonzalez would equalize just a minute later for the visitors, but that would be the end of the scoring for Seacoast.

that ricocheted off the goalpost before going in. Koziol’s goal made it 2-1 for Stockade, a scoreline that held until halftime.  Unfortunately, Koziol would leave the match in the first with a hamstring injury and would not return to the match.

Forward Michael Creswick, who won Mitre National Player of the Week honors earlier this season, took control in the second half with a hat trick, the first in club history.  The Newcastle, England native scored in the 46th, 87th, and 90th minutes to bring his season total to nine goals and five assists.

Forward Anthony Barone scored a goal of his own in the 84th minute, his first of the season.

Sunday was a bit of a different story for Stockade as things wouldn’t come as easy against the Brooklyn Italians.  Oleksandr Tomakh scored a brace for the Italians, leading the visitors to victory.

Brooklyn went up 1-0 in the 28th minute to unsettle the home side that had the momentum of a big victory the day before.

Stockade FC fought back and equalized on a diving goal from Phillips in the 45th minute.  This was the second consecutive game where Phillips provided the first Stockade goal.

The Italians were able to respond with the winning goal of the match in the second half to allow them to leave Dietz Stadium with all three points.

The three-point weekend leaves Kingston with a 4-2-7 record.

Kingston’s next match will be on Sunday, July 3 at 4 p.m. ET at Dietz Stadium against Seacoast United Mariners.  This will be followed by two away matches on July 9th (New York Athletic Club) and July 10th (New York Cosmos B) to end the regular season.  The July 10th match just happens to be the NPSL Game of the Week.
