Mount Union got a goal in the first half to beat Heidelberg 1-0 and picked up three big points in the Ohio Athletic Conference standings on Senior Night Monday night at Mount Union Stadium. Mount Union’s men’s soccer team (3-4) beat La Roche (3-4) by a score of 3-0. Senior Stephen Dages (Uniontown/Akron St.Vincent-St.Mary) led the way for the Purple Raiders with two goals and an assist on the night. The Raiders got on the board in the 10th minute on a goal from sophomore Brian Belz (North Royalton/North Royalton) on the assist from Dages to make the score 1-0 at half. Dages got the scoring going in the second half as he scored an unassisted goal in the 53rd minute.
Women’s Soccer: Lanese Named OAC Player of the Week Mount Union junior Nicole Lanese (Macedonia/Nordonia) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Player of the Week (9/11). This is the second straight week a Mount Union women’s soccer player has been named Player of the Week by the OAC after sophomore Maggie O’Donnell (Avon/Avon) was named it last week. This is the second time in her career that Lanese has been honered with player of the week as she did it in the week of September
Mount Union Drops Overtime Game at Wooster Mount Union (1-2) men’s soccer lost the game at Wooster (2-1) in overtime by a score of 1-0. The Purple Raiders had their chances as they had eight shots on goal and four corner kicks in the contest. The only game of the game came in the 94th minute by Manny Burton of Wooster. Men’s Soccer Defeats Washington and Jefferson Two first-half goals were plenty as Mount Union defeated Washington and Jefferson in Washington, Pa 2-0 Monday night. Senior Stephen Dages (St. Vincent St. Mary/Uniontown) scored the only two goals of the game in the 25th and 45th minutes for the Purple Raiders. The first goal was assisted by sophomore Jon Schroeder (Normandy/Parma) while the second goal was assisted by senior Todd Cooper(Kenston/Chagrin Falls). The Mount Union men’s soccer team lost to Baldwin Wallace 3-1 Wednesday night in their second Ohio Athletic Conference matchup of the season. Baldwin Wallace’s Danny Ruple notched the first goal in the 37th minute of the game.
