Carter Poe has been named assistant men’s soccer coach at the University of Mount Union. Poe played college soccer at NCAA Division I Duquesne University. He played in 79 games and made 52 starts over his career and was team captain in both his junior and senior seasons. After college, he played for AFC Cleveland where he led the team to a conference championship and national quarterfinal appearance. The Mount Union soccer team will play just one home game in the first month of the upcoming 2012 season. The Purple Raiders begin the season with a pair of games at the Capital/Fort Rapids Invitational at Capital University in Bexley, Ohio. AFC Cleveland, Northeastern Ohio’s newest sports franchise, is proud to announce to announce the signing of Mount Union striker Thomas Beck and defender Phil Spagnolo. Beck, a Poland (OH) native and Cardinal Mooney graduate, was the leading scorer for the Purple Raiders as a sophmore in 2011.
