Impressive Home Opener for Waza

Detroit WAZA FLO is on a hot streak, crushing the Louisville Lightning in an extremely physical home opener yesterday afternoon at the Taylor Sportsplex with a score of 9-3. “After working through a rocky first period, we came together perfectly,” said  Detroit Head Coach Dominic Scicluna. “We will have to continue to work harder and smarter to stay on top this season.” “Louisville started with a high degree of energy, but we matched that after the first ten minutes and controlled the

Vortex Fall in First Road Game of the Season

The Cincinnati Kings (4-0) came away with a 10-6 victory over the Ohio Vortex (1-2) after a strong second half performance. Former Cleveland City Stars midfielder Steve Gillespie would put the Vortex on the board early in the first quarter, but Cincinnati would fight back to bring the score to 1-1. A goal by Drew Ducker would push the Kings to 2-1, but Milko Cecez evened things up minutes later. Cincinnati’s Eddie Herstenberg and Ohio’s John Ball brought the score to 3-3

Final Home Games for the Vortex

This weekend is our last chance to catch the Ohio Vortex at the Canton Civic Center.  The Vortex take on the Detroit Waza (Friday, Jan. 15th) and the Louisville Lightning (Saturday, Jan. 16th).  They will then embark on a long, long road trip to finish the season.  The Vortex have quietly created a talented squad with a good mix of youth and experience.  Seasoned veteran Wes Sechrist matches perfectly with the passion and fire of midfielder Allen Eller.  Defender Mike Pertz

What a League!

I have to say I have enjoyed covering the PASL this season; it’s been a rewarding experience.  Seeing great talent sign on with PASL clubs shows the true quality of the league.  I was thrilled to see John Michael Hayden, who spent time with the Cleveland City Stars, sign with the Louisville Lightning.  It was also good to see a veteran defender like Wes Sechrist sign with the Ohio Vortex, a team which already included fiery midfielder Allen Eller. Rumors of a John Ball revival
