The Columbus Crew announced on Thursday it has agreed to a Homegrown contract with Lewis Center native and University of Akron standout Chad Barson. Per Major League Soccer and club policy, details of the contract were not disclosed. Barson’s signature makes him the fifth Homegrown player in club history after his Akron teammate Wil Trapp signed with the Black & Gold last month. The Columbus Crew announced its 2013 Major League Soccer regular season schedule on Wednesday, in which the club opens the campaign on the road Saturday, March 2, against Chivas USA. The New England Revolution has signed Braintree, Mass., product Scott Caldwell as a Homegrown player. The two-time All-American has played the last four seasons at collegiate powerhouse Akron while training with the Revolution’s first team each summer. Seattle Sounders FC faced Real Salt Lake at CenturyLink Field on November 2nd, 2012. The match was the first of two in a series to decide which team will advance in the MLS playoffs. Sadly, Seattle was not able to find the net, despite numerous attempts and close calls. The Sounders looked more composed and created more goal scoring chances, but came away with nothing to show. The game ended in a 0-0 draw with the concluding game to be
