Giorgio was one of soccer’s legendary figures and we’re honored and grateful to have had him as a part of the SiriusXM family. All those who love the sport and listened to him share his stories and incredible knowledge of the game are better for the experience. He will be missed. In a disappointing display of teamwork and passing, the Seattle Sounders fell to 2-1-0 on the season following a 1-0 home loss to San Jose. The Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL) has announced the addition of United FC Binghamton to the growing ranks of the 70 plus team league. The upstate New York-based club will compete in the East-Northeast Division and will draw players from top regional colleges, including Binghamton University, Ithaca College and Hartwick University. United FC Binghamton is aligned with United FC, a recently developed youth club. The team will be coached by Shane Cook, who is also Director of Coaching at United FC.
The Women’s Premier Soccer League’s (WPSL) New York Athletic Club (NYAC) has announced the appointment of Kim Wyant as Head Coach of its women’s soccer team. Wyant is a distinguished soccer goalkeeper and was the first goalkeeper in the history of the United States Women’s National Team, appearing in its inaugural August 1985 match in Italy. The team will make its home at the National Training Center in Clermont, Fla., and will join other Florida-based teams, including Tampa Bay Hellenic, Florida Sol FC and South Florida Strikers, in the Sunshine Division. In preparation for the 2012 season, Shine has added Washington native Maggie Schrader, returning defender Morgan Roesler, Roesler’s South Carolina State University (SCSU) teammates Darci Nicole Smith and Kaitlynn Penner, defender Lisa Robertson and midfielder Alyssa Saucedo to the team.
