So Close for Sounders

Brad Evans’ second-half goal off a penalty kick was not enough for Sounders FC to fight back from a two-nil deficit as Charlie Davies and Josh Wolff each registered a goal and an assist, giving D.C. United the victory and denying Sounders FC any points at RFK Stadium on Wednesday night.  Seattle (3-3-3, 12 points) lost its first game since March 19 and saw its six-game unbeaten streak come to an end.  D.C. United (3-4-1, 10 points) beat Sounders FC in RFK

An Emotional Victory

In a triumph of depth, Seattle Sounders FC secured their second win of the season over their club rivals, Toronto FC.  Following the match, Sounders Head Coach Sigi Schmid stated “sometimes when we play at home, we rely on the crowd for our energy.  Today, we tried to bring in our own energy and have the crowd play off of our energy instead.”  The energy they brought was immense, enough for the  36,287 people in attendance to run off of

Sounders FC Midfielder Steve Zakuani Underwent Successful Surgery

Seattle Sounders FC winger Steve Zakuani underwent successful surgery late Friday night to repair a fractured right tibia and fibula. Zakuani will remain at Rose Medical Center in Denver for several days before returning to Seattle. Zakuani was injured in the third minute of Friday night’s match against the Colorado Rapids. He was taken from the field on a stretcher. Colorado midfielder Brian Mullan was red-carded for the foul on Zakuani. “I’m sorry for Steve. It was never my intention to injure him

Rapids No Match for Montero and Sounders

Fredy Montero scored the early winner as Seattle Sounders FC extended its unbeaten streak to five games with a 1-nil win over the defending MLS Cup champion Colorado Rapids on Friday night at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colo. Sounders FC (2-2-3, 9 points) earns three points on the road for the first time in 2011 as it is now tied for third place in the West. Colorado (3-3-0, 9 points) failed to win for the first time at home
