Toronto FC continue to be the movers and shakers of the Eastern Conference.
TFC have made changes to the coaching staff and brought in high-profile players on loan.
The addition of Duncan Oughton was viewed by all as a solid hire and a solid addition to the TFC family.
Oughton, 35, was most recently in his third season a member of the Columbus Crew’s coaching staff, serving as the assistant technical director and assistant coach.
“Duncan knows the league inside and out, and what it takes to be successful in the league,” said Toronto FC Head Coach Ryan Nelsen. “I’ve known him for many years and I know he will be a great addition to the fantastic staff we have here at Toronto FC.”
Moves were also done to improve play on the pitch, an area where TFC has struggled as of late.
Tuesday saw New Zealand international forward Jeremy Brockie come in on loan from A-League side Wellington Phoenix. Scottish international defender Steven Caldwell also joined the club on loan from Birmingham City on Tuesday.
Yet another move came today. Toronto FC announced Thursday that it acquired Israeli international defender Tal Ben Haim on loan from EPL club Queens Park Rangers.
“Tal Ben Haim has been one of the top defenders in the EPL for nearly a decade. He captains his national team and Ryan thinks the world of him,” said Toronto FC President and General Manager Kevin Payne. “He’s exactly the sort of veteran defender we need.”
All of the changes help push TFC closer to being competitive in the conference and making a run at the playoffs as soon as possible. The loan deals give the Reds world-class veterans that can make an immediate impact.
