This Saturday, October 19th the Houston Dutch Lions FC Texas Premier Soccer League squad will have its home opener kicking off at 4 pm. The club is proud to host not only their home opener, but also to unveil the newly completed first phase of the club’s soccer complex. So far this season the Lions have won their first two games and currently sit atop the TPSL table.
Against the Houston Leones the team booked a 2-0 victory with goals from Jesus ‘Chuy’ Vidal and Roberto Velazquez leading the Lions to victory. A week later the team, coached by Marco Pruis with assistance from Jan Hereijgers and Davy Zwaard, traveled to Maya Park to take on Regals SCA. This tough away game on the Northeast side of Houston became the Lions second victory as the offense took over in a 3-1 win. A brace from David Otoya and a penalty kick from Javier Vazquez was more than enough to secure the Lions win.
This weekend the Lions will host Galveston Pirate SC. After losing their opener, the Pirates bounced back last weekend and secured a draw against the Houston Leones FC. Although this incarnation of the Galveston Pirate SC is relatively new, the Pirates name has a proud tradition in the Houston soccer community. Coached by Nelson Estrada, the Pirates have a lot of young talent looking to make their mark on this match and on the TPSL. This is sure to be an exciting early season game between two hungry clubs.
In other TPSL action this weekend, Bearkatz FC travels to Houston Leones FC and Regals SCA makes the trip to Dow Park to take on the Houston Hurricanes FC.
