WNY Flash Sign Omolyn Davis to 2012 WPSL Elite League Roster

Editor May 15, 2012

The Western New York Flash have announced the signing of Omolyn Davis to their 2012 Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL) Elite Leauge roster. Davis, a Jamaican International, was selected 10th overall by Women’s Professional Soccer’s magicJack in the 2011 WPS Draft. In her rookie season in the WPS, Davis started 5 of the 6 games that she appeared in, scoring 1 goal. After the 2011 WPS season concluded, Davis took her trade to FC Energiya of Russia.

A graduate of the George Mason University, Davis was named First-Team All-Region, First-Team All-CAA and First-Team All-ECAC in 2009 after transferring from Lindsay Wilson College of the NAIA.  The summer prior to her senior season, she played in the USL W-League for the Washington Freedom Futures and was named to the 2010 W-League All-League Team after scoring seven goals and helping lead her team to a 10-1-1 record.
Davis opened a stellar 2010 senior campaign by being named to the MAC Hermann Trophy watch list. She capped off the season as First Team All-CAA and was the first player from George Mason in over a decade to be named All-American (Fourth Team). Davis was first in the CAA in points per game, second in assists per game and third in goals per game. She finished the year with 29 points on 10 goals and nine assists. Despite just two seasons in the Green and Gold, she finished her career among the top 15 in school history in points, goals and assists.

Davis will join a roster that already includes Portuguese Women’s National Team member Kim Brandao, former U.S. U-20 Women’s National Team starter Meghan Klingenberg and returning WPS veterans McCall Zerboni, Alex Sahlen and Brittany Cameron. The Flash look to complete a unique “three-peat” this season by winning championships in the W-League (2010), WPS (2011) and WPSL Elite League.

The Flash opened their season on Friday, May 12 with a 4-1 victory over FC Indiana, WPSL and US Open Cup Champions in 2005 and 2007. Spanish International Adriana scored three goals in the match for WNY, marking the first-ever hat trick at Sahlen’s Stadium. The Flash play Paul Riley and the New York Fury on Saturday, May 19 at 7:00 p.m. at Sahlen’s Stadium. For tickets, call 585-454-KICK, or for more information call 716-655-7529 and visit the team’s website, www.wnyflash.com.
