The Mount Union women’s soccer team defeated Ohio Athletic Conference opponent Muskingum 4-0 on Wednesday night.
Mount Union (7-8, 3-3) jumped out to an early lead in the third minute of the match as senior Kelsey Malenic settled a cross from freshman Katie Goedecke and put it in the back of the net to give Mount Union a 1-0 lead.
The Purple Raiders scored again in the 50th minute of the match as Malenic netted her second goal of the game off of an assist from junior Carolyn Balzano to put the Raiders up 2-0.
Mount Union struck again just two minutes later as freshman Nicole Lanese corralled a rebound off of a shot by Malenic and found the back of the net to extend the Mount Union lead to 3-0.
The Purple Raiders added one more goal in the 58th minute as sophomore Amy Bobonik scored on a sliding kick off of a cross from Balzano to put the Raiders up 4-0.
Freshman Alexis Crawford tallied her second career shutout as she collected four saves in the win for the Purple Raiders.
Mount Union continues OAC play as the Purple Raiders next travel to Wilmington on Saturday, October 24 at 7 pm.
