Women’s College Soccer: Mount Union defeats Bluffton 5-1

Mount Union’s women’s soccer team defeated Bluffton 5-1 Wednesday in a non-conference matchup at Mount Union Stadium.

After the victory the Purple Raiders advance to 4-2 on the season as the Beavers drop to 1-5.

The Purple Raiders led 4-1 going into halftime. The first goal went to sophomore Amanda Davies at the 16:53 mark on a touch pass by Kelsey Malenic. Freshman Katie Goedecke followed with a break-away goal at the 22:46 mark after beating the goalie and finding the back of the net.

The Raiders would score two more goals within the 32nd and 34th minute of play by senior Allison Fouss and sophomore Taylor Lanese.

Bluffton got on the board in the 40th minute after a shot from Terrill Webb.

Both teams would go scoreless in the second half until junior Kelsey Malenic scored in the 89th minute making the final score 5-1 as Mount Union outshot Bluffton 21-1.

Mount Union remains home to take on Waynesburg in a non-conference matchup Saturday at 3:30 pm at Mount Union Stadium.
