The Mount Union women’s soccer team defeated Ohio Athletic Conference opponent Heidelberg 3-1 on Saturday afternoon.
Mount Union (6-8, 2-3) struck first in the 3rd minute of the match when Kelsey Malenic scored on a breakaway goal as she chipped the ball over the goalkeeper to put the Purple Raiders up 1-0.
The Raiders scored again in the 68th minute of the match when Nicole Lanese rolled a shot past the keeper to extend the Mount Union lead to 2-0.
Heidelberg (7-8, 2-3) got on the board in the 73rd minute as Danielle Rathfon found the back of the net off of a pass from Kristen Keenan to cut the Mount Union lead down to 2-1.
Mount Union would answer in the 81st minute as junior Taylor Lanese scored off of a cross from freshman Katie Goedecke to give the Raiders a 3-1 lead.
Mount Union continues OAC play as it hosts Muskingum on Tuesday, October 21 at 7 pm.
