Mount Union head coach Carter Poe received his first career win with a 3-1 victory over Bluffton Wednesday afternoon.

Mount Union (1-1) scored their first goal of the season in the 48th minute when sophomore Aaron Liezert scored off of a penalty kick to give Mount Union a 1-0 lead.

Just four minutes later, the Purple Raiders struck again off of the head of senior Mitchell Tiah as sophomore Carter Dunn lobbed in the assist.

The Raiders scored their third goal of the contest in the 87th minute after sophomore Nik Newhart buried a shot just inside the box from a pass by freshman Joe Winiecki to give the Raiders a 3-0 lead.

The Beavers scored their only goal of the game in the 89th minute on a penalty shot from John Eckenrode to spoil the shutout for the Raiders.

Mount Union will return home to host Washington and Jefferson on Saturday, September 12 at 3 pm.
