One of Mexico’s oldest professional clubs, CF Monterrey is sending its sub-20 squad to Cowtown to face the Vaqueros.

The exhibition match will take place at 7:30 p.m. June 30 at Texas Wesleyan University’s Martin Field in the first of two international matches the Vaqueros will host this summer.

“We are honored to play the Rayados u20 squad,” Vaqueros coach Mark Snell said. “Our players are very excited. The Rayados are loved throughout the Metroplex and we expect a great crowd.”

The Vaqueros are committed to developing young area talent with an average age of 21 years old on the current roster.

CF Monterrey hails from the northern part of Mexico. Founded in 1945 Rayados reign as the oldest active team in the professional division. They won the Liga MX four times: Mexico 86, Clausura 2003, Apertura 2009 and Apertura 2010 as well as the Copa Mexico once in 1991.  Incredibly, Monterrey were CONCACAF Champions League winners three years in a row: 2011, 2012, and 2013.

Fort Worth has played international exhibitions every season with a match against the El Salvador Under-21 national team in 2014 and Japan’s RKU last year.

The Vaqueros will announce a second exhibition against another well-known Mexican club next week for a match in early July according to Tobias Xavier Lopez, the club’s Director of Business Operations.

“The Vaqueros family deserves to witness international matches featuring different styles of soccer against historic clubs such as Monterrey,” Lopez said. “We are pleased that the Fort Worth Convention and Visitors Bureau and Jarritos are supporting our club in providing this match.”

Tickets for the match are the normal Vaqueros prices of $10 for adults, $5 for youth 6-16. Vaqueros season seat holders get in free as always by wearing their official UN1TUS Vaqueros jersey. Tickets can be purchased online at the Vaqueros Gear Shop https://fortworthvaqueros.myshopify.com or at the gate.
