Vaqueros Fall on Road to Shreveport

Home/U.S. Soccer Leagues/NPSL/Vaqueros Fall on Road to Shreveport

Fort Worth’s Matt Rochowski did all he could for the Vaqueros with a pair of goals on Sunday against the Rafters.

Despite his brace, the Vaqueros fell 4-2 to Shreveport (5-3-2, 17 points) in NPSL South Central Conference play in Louisiana.

Fort Worth (1-9-1, 4 points) fell behind 3-0 at the half before Rochowski pulled the Vaqueros back in the match with strikes in the 60th and 61st minutes.

“It was a poor first half and once again their goals came off of our errors,” Vaqueros coach Mark Snell said. “We dug in and played well in the second half and had them on the run when we scored two.”

The Vaqueros continued to push following the pair of goals, but a Shreveport strike against the run of play sealed the game at 4-2 in the 78th minute

“We pushed forward at that point to try and claim a point, but were unfortunately countered on their last goal,” Snell said.

The Vaqueros take a break from NPSL play on Thursday when the Fort Worth club hosts Mexico’s Monterrey Rayados under-20 side at 7:30 pm at Texas Wesleyan University’s Martin Field.
