NDC Women’s Rugby Loses a Close Game to Davenport University

Home/Notre Dame College, Rugby/NDC Women’s Rugby Loses a Close Game to Davenport University

Notre Dame College women’s rugby could not hold off Davenport University in the second half and lost 31-19 on Sunday morning.

Following a 71-5 win over Mount St. Mary’s University to start their season, the Falcons (1-1) looked good early on and led the game going into the halftime break. In the first half, NDC dominated DU in territory and possession.

In the second half, Davenport made some tactical changes and turned the tables. The Panthers took the ball out of Notre Dame’s hands and dominated the possession.

Head coach Luke Markovich mentioned that the loss was unsettling, but the team is undeterred.

“Davenport impressed in the second half and were able to capitalize on our mistakes,” he said. “It showed us some areas that we need to work on and the girls are motivated to improve.”

The Falcons will play Queens University at home on September 16. The game is scheduled to start at noon.
