Albion PROS forward Travis Nicklaw has been selected as the fourth Mitre National Player of the Week for the 2017 NPSL season.

“It’s an honor to be named Player of the Week,” Nicklaw commented. “I would like to thank my teammates and coaching staff. It’s great to get the win after a tough couple weeks. I think the coaching staff did a tremendous job preparing us for the match during the week.”

Nicklaw tallied one goal and one assist in Albion’s 3-1 win over Corinthians USA.

“Travis earning NPSL National Player of the Week is a great honor,” PROS head coach Ziggy Korytoski added. “He has worked extremely hard and continues to improve everyday.  He is a coach’s dream.  While he holds himself to a high standard, it is his preparation that is allowing him to flourish.  I believe he is going to have a big impact on the league this season and I am really happy for him and all he has accomplished to date.”

Nicklaw is a San Diego native and San Diego State University athlete.  He will graduate with a degree in Criminal Justice next semester. During his senior soccer season for the Aztecs, Nicklaw led the team with five goals, four of which were game-winning.

In his senior season with the Aztecs, Nicklaw was also named Second-Team NSCAA All-Far West Region and Second-Team All-Pac-12.  This is his first season with the PROS.  He already has two goals and one assist in the 2017 NPSL season.

The winner of this national honor is determined by a vote of media members from across the country.  It is awarded every week during the regular season.
