The Mount Union men’s soccer team fell to Capital 3-1 in their first Ohio Athletic Conference match of the season.
Capital (3-7, 1-0) struck first in the 8th minute off of a corner kick by Cheyn Roux that found Hunter Stiger to put the Crusaders up 1-0.
Stiger scored again just four minutes later on a chip shot off of a rebound to give Capital a 2-0 lead.
The Crusaders scored their third goal of the half in the 44th minute when Josh McDaniel placed a ball in the top corner of the goal off of an assist from Jacob Pulliam to put Capital up 3-0 at the break.
Mount Union (5-3-1, 0-1) got on the board in the 54th minute on a goal by sophomore Jesse Tinney as he beat the keeper far post off of an assist from senior Mitchell Tiah to cut the Capital lead down to 3-1.
Mount Union next hosts Marietta on Tuesday, October 6 at 7 pm.
