Garner Makes History with Hurricanes

Home/U.S. Soccer Leagues/NPSL/Garner Makes History with Hurricanes

The Houston Hurricanes FC announced today the signing of 15-year-old goalkeeper Tyler Garner. In doing so Garner made history as the youngest Houston Hurricanes FC player ever signed.  He also becomes the youngest player to ever sign with an NPSL side.

“Tyler is a great goalie, I have been working with him for a few months now and he is improving everyday,” Head Coach Thiago Reis commented.  “I can’t believe he is only fifteen years old and so mature as a player and person.”

“First off, I couldn’t believe this kid was fifteen,” Owner Brendan Keyes added. “He looked like a big man and played like one.  We already had two goalkeepers and we wanted to add one more, but I never thought it would be a young lad at fifteen years old.”

“It’s an honor to be on this team,” Garner stated. “It feels great to be the youngest player in the history of the Houston Hurricanes FC.  I’d like to thank Mr. Keyes and Coach Reis for giving me this opportunity and I look forward to proving that age is not a factor.”

“It’s an amazing achievement for the young lad,” Reis concluded. “He goes into the history books as the youngest ever player in Hurricanes history.”
