The National Premier Soccer League is proud to announce its ninth National Player of the Week for the 2013 regular season.

The winner, for the week ending June 2nd, is Tulsa Athletics defender Blaine “the Flyin’ Hawaiian” Gonsalves.

The Ewa Beach, Hawaii native scored a hat trick and anchored two shutouts in the same weekend. The result would be 7-0 and 6-0 wins over Regals SCA, adding to Tulsa’s impressive run in the South Central Conference.

Gonsalves was a four-year starter at the University of Tulsa. During his time with the Golden Hurricane he tallied seven goals and five assists from his left back role. He was an named to the All-C-USA Third Team in 2011.

He also works in the Tulsa Athletics front office, serving as the team’s accountant.

The award, voted on by media from across the country, is part of the league’s commitment to honoring players, coaches, and staff for their exemplary work. The announcement is made on Saturdays during the regular season exclusively on NPSL social media.
